To further the understanding of genetics and its impact on human health, Newfound Genomics works in collaboration with a variety of world-class research and academic institutions. Affiliations have been established with such organizations as Sequenom and Memorial University of Newfoundland.
Sequenom Newfound Genomics has established a strategic partnership with Sequenom, a leading discovery genetics company based in San Diego, California. Sequenom has integrated a high performance technology platform, sample repository, SNP assay portfolio and innovative strategies for determining the medical impact of genes and genetic variablity.
Utilizing a novel population genetics approach, Sequenom is systematically identifying potential disease-related genes that affect large segments of the population. As well, Sequenom has developed the MassArray system, one of the most powerful high throughput genetic screening technologies in the industry.
Memorial University of Newfoundland Newfound Genomics collaborates with Memorial University of Newfoundland to provide research training for scientists, students and health care professionals. While Newfound Genomics will not duplicate research conducted at Memorial University, it will work closely with medical researchers to enhance their research capability, joint research initiatives and academic development.
